Citrix Systems has announced the acquisition of Slack competitor Wrike for $2.25 billion (£1.65 billion), becoming the firm’s record deal to date at $250m greater than initial expected.
While Citrix already develops cloud-based products, adding the software that Wrike can provide will help the company in become a major competitor in the market. Specifically, Wrike develops workplace collaboration software focussing on planning, workflow management and project management.
While Wrike’s customers are both numerous and high profile, including Walmart and Nickelodeon in the US, their competitors include Trello and Slack Technologies, who each were involved in major deals with Atlassian and Salesforce respectively.
